|Series notes||The 1998 tour of the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company was a collaborative work with renowned choreographer, Wayne McGregor. His piece was entitled Intertense and was set to an electronic music score compiled by Andy Cowton. Six dancers from the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company performed McGreogor's piece. The tour programme describes the dance as 'Intertense: the space between tenses is a new digital dimension for the post millennial society'. Here the reality between the past, present and future are simultaneously eroded to pioneer a fluid interface for non-linear living. |
Shobana Jeyasingh's own performance was entitled, 'Intimacies of a Third Order'. The dance movement was inspired from the courtly martial art of North Eastern India, and portrayed leave taking, journeys, arrivals, memory and new ways of belonging. The score was composed by Richard Gordon using the saxophone and guitar.
The performance was held at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and toured to Leicester, Preston, Manchester and Brecon in April 1998.
