These two A4 pages form an extract of a draft manuscript of Gunesekera’s novel ‘Reef’. Written in August 1993, the manuscript pages are the first two published pages of the novel. The manuscript also contains Gunesekera’s handwritten amendments to his script.

This second novel by Gunesekera was short listed for both the Booker Prize and the Guardian Fiction Prize in 1994, and was the winner of the Yorkshire Post Best First Work.
