The thirteen images in this item depict the compilation of fables ‘Saint Suniti and the Dragon and other fables’ by Suniti Namjoshi. The book was published in 1993 by Spinifex Press, Melbourne and in 1994 by Virago Press, London. This modern, satirical fable brings together fabulist characters from diverse folklores, featuring dragons, saints, and monsters woven into songs, dialogue, prayers and narratives. The digitised images include the book cover, the contents pages and the poem, entitled ‘The Gilded Lilies Began to Burn’.
