Welcome to the home of the South Asian Diaspora Arts Archive (SADAA). SADAA conserves, digitises, shares, and celebrates the work of first generation British South Asian artists post-partition. We were originally set up to hold collections that would otherwise be lost, and we’re still collecting. Most recently we’ve received the John Mayer collection. You can hear him here. Our core purpose remains unchanged, but as the work we hold has become a part of the mainstream arts narrative, we’ve started using it to engage new audiences. You may have seen us at workshops and schools, in libraries and Town Halls, or introducing predominantly South Asian community groups to their cultural legacy. We’re proud to be housed alongside the national collection at Birmingham Museum and Gallery and to have been supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and by Arts Council England. Please contact us if you have items that require preservation and showcasing.
