Series notes | 'Garden of Grace' was comissioned by Birmingham Central Library. It measures four metres in diameter, with the theme of humanity's aspirations towards beauty, weaving semi-abstract and geometrical forms with generalised bird forms viewed from different angles. These bird forms interact to create rectangular, square and circular shapes, these last echoing the overall shape of the work. In most of his paintings, Saleem uses birds as emblems of humanity's aspirations. |
Collection notes | The Saleem Arif Quadri collection contains digital images of his artworks, including paintings, ceramics and manuscript books from the late 1950s to the present day, as well as from several exhibition catalogues. The materials also include items from his curatorial work. |
