Series notesThe Fragments of Self Series was one of the earliest series Samena Rana composed. The technique of fragmenting images that became prevalent in her later compositions first appears in this series. The images are about negotiating one's own cultural identity within a new environment and were taken between 1987 and 1988.
Collection notesThe Samena Rana collection includes material from her main bodies of photographic work: the 'Flow of Water Series', the 'Arrangement Series', the 'Disability Series' and other biographical material. The digitised items include mainly colour and black and white photographs.
