This three-page programme details nine dance performances given by over thirty students of the Academy of Indian Dance at its Annual Showcase. All the performances were choreographed by The Academy of Indian Dance’s dance trainers and professionals. The showcase was held at the Commonwealth Institute on Saturday 17 November 1990. In the foyer of the Commonwealth Institute, a performance of Indian and Turkish drum rhythms took place, entitled ‘A Dialogue of Drums’.

Series notesAkademi: South Asian Dance was known as The Academy of Indian Dance for over 10 years since its establishment in 1979. This grouping, Beginnings, focuses on the first ten years of the organisation (1979-1989) and traces its pioneering work in increasing accessibility to Indian dance and creating a space for Indian dance in contemporary British culture.
