Bharatya Natyam Syllabus – Document

Series namePresent
Description

Akademi produced a ‘Bharata Natyam Syllabus’ in 1999. The syllabus was compiled following extensive research into South Asian dance training needs in Britain, having identified the lack of a structured dance programme for students of classical Indian dance. With the assistance of its dance professionals and education officers, Akademi produced a ‘Bharata Natyam’ and ‘Khatak’ dance syllabus for accreditation and implementation by the South Asian Dance faculty at the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in London. The syllabus is currently used by the ISTD for its examinations and also forms a core component for AS-level dance examinations.
