This seven page, colour album sleeve of ‘The Classical Indian Collection’, features an introduction to the album written by album compiler, John Lewis (jazz and world music editor of Time Out magazine in London). The album lists the twenty-six tracks of the double CD album and includes brief background notes to each track. A diverse range of classical and contemporary artist and producers have contributed to this album, including Ravi Shankar, Talvin Singh, Natacha Atlas, Nitin Sawhney, Yehudi Menuhin and Zakir Hussain.

Series notesThe Classical Indian Collection compilation album was released by Outcaste Records in October 2003. This collection was compiled for Outcaste Records by John Lewis, World Music Editor, Time Out Magazine. The album, in contrast to Outcastes' other music projects involve dance floor fusion, and draw on the classical influences of the east and west. The artists featured are diverse classical Indian and jazz musicians, playing music from the 1960s to the present day.
Collection notesA major label in world music, Outcaste Records was formed in 1995 by Shabs Jobanputra and Paul Franklyn. Based in London, the record label endeavours to maintain a creative space for artists of world music and produce music for and by young British Asians that reflect their South Asian and British cultural traditions. Outcaste are also dedicated to making this music increasingly accessible and appreciated to mainstream audiences.
