Series notes | The artwork of the last decade of Avinash Chandra's life can be best described by quoting artist Amal Ghosh, from the Horizon Gallery exhibition card in 1987. He writes, 'Avinash has changed. The later work is more poetic...full of birds and flowers...Even the way paint is applied has undergone a radical change. The Chernobyl disaster has penetrated the quiet studio of the artist'. This group features pamphlets, invitation cards, leaflets and a photograph of Avinash Chandra from the 1980s. Avinash Chandra died in September 1991. |
Collection notes | The Avinash Chandra Collection is divided by decades and a grouping featuring selected slides. The 1950s to 1980s sections feature exhibition catalogues, photographs of paintings, drawings and murals and promotional material. The selections of 35mm slides depict Chandra's art work over the decades. |
