Icarus at Walsall Arboretum, 1991 – Sculpture

Series nameSelected Slides
Description

In July 1990, over 300 members of the local community in Walsall took part in Juginder Lamba’s national arts project at Arboretum Park. Entitled Icarus, the project was implemented by Lamba and fellow artist Tony Philips. Arboretum Park was just one location among several in the Midlands region, to invite the public to participate in project. A sixteen-foot high sculpture, crowned by a flying figure of the boy Icarus was built from a huge pile of ancient timbers. This is a daytime shot of the sculpture.
