This is an A4 black and white, landscape photograph taken during Akademi’s production, ‘Coming of Age’. It features the dancer Navtej Singh Johar, in a traditional classical Indian dance stance in the foreground. In the background a large Ferris wheel structure without carriages is visible. The performer is wearing a traditional long coat over loose fitting trousers or ‘sharwani’. ‘Coming of Age’ was produced to mark Akademi’s 21st birthday and was performed outdoors on the walkways of the Royal Festival Hall, London on 11-12 August 2000.
