Series notes | Baluji Shrivastav began teaching fellow students at the age of nine years old, when he was given the responsibility to conduct the school orchestra in India. Much later, when he came to London in the early eighties, Baluji was asked to facilitate workshops for children in schools and colleges, not only teaching Indian classical music, but also by using his music as a tool for participants to engage in dance, drama and art activities. Baluji has also worked with universities in creating modules for music degree courses, and has assisted in teacher training for music at national curriculum level. This grouping gives an overview of Baluji's work within education, and includes items such as certificates, images and reports. |
Collection notes | The digitised material in the Baluji Shrivastav Collection falls into several categories relating to Baluji's work: classical music, new music, fusion, education, and theatre. The digitised items include photographs, concert flyers and posters, extracts of theatre programmes and education related documents. |
