Description | July 1995 saw the release of Outcaste Records’ first album by artist Nitin Sawhney. Entitled ‘Migration’, the album sought to create a symbolic soundtrack to the story of Asian migration to Britain since the 1940s. The album covered the themes of departure, arrival, adaptation and fusion. Contributing artists to the album include Natasha Atlas, Jayanta Bose, Aref Dervesh, Iqbal Hussain and Pritam Singh.The album sleeve includes a message from Outcaste Records founder Shabs Jobanputra, and notes about each track written by Nitin Sawhney. The back page also features linear notes written by music reviewer Linton Chiswick. This CD sleeve consists of four colour digitised images. |

Series notes | Nitin Sawhney signed to Outcaste Records in 1993 and was the first artist to sign to the label. An award winning writer, comedian, actor and scriptwriter, Sawhney is in great demand as a musician, songwriter, producer and re-mixer. His albums are diverse in global musical influence and symbolism and have received numerous accolades. He and his band regularly tour internationally. |
