This black and white image, is taken from Mán Melá ‘s 1996 production of ‘Dangers of Common Sense’. The play was an HIV awareness play aimed at young Asians and toured at London’s schools, colleges and youth centres in 1996. It was directed by Mán Melá ‘s artistic director Dominic Rai. This image features cast members Kiran D’Costa, Razia Ayub, Emilio Doorgasingh and Janice Grace Vydelingum.

Series notesAs part of Mán Melá’s commitment to community issues and involvement, in 1995 the company devised a play entitled Dangers of Common Sense, which explored issues surrounding HIV and AIDS. The piece was commissioned by BHASEL (Black HIV AIDS South East London) and toured schools, colleges and youth clubs in 1996. The play was directed by Mán Melá artistic director Dominic Rai and featured Razia Sultana Ayub, Kiran D’Costa, Emilio Doorgasingh and Janice Grace Vydelingum as cast members. The play fused hard-hitting contemporary drama with bhangra music.
