Description | In the summer of 2001, Dominic Rai, Mán Melá ‘s artistic director, was invited to do a residency with Eastside Arts, an established literature organisation in Whitechapel in the East End of London. This involved collecting stories from young and older residents of the area, including memories of the Kray Twins and the Battle of Cable Street. The project was entitled ‘Stories Not For Telling’ and continued in August at The Brady Centre with a week of drama workshops culminating in a performance as part of Tower Hamlets Summer University. The participants included a diverse group of 13 young people. This colour image features three of the project participants. |
