Description | This is an A5 colour photograph of Sudha Buchar, co-founder of Tamasha Theatre Company and an actor and a playwright. She started her acting career at Tara Arts in 1986 and her acting credits include: ‘EastEnders’ (BBC), ‘The Archers’ (BBC Radio) and Salman Rushdie’s ‘Haroun and the Sea of Stories’ (Royal National Theatre). She has adapted, with Kristine Landon-Smith, many of Tamasha’s productions and has written many plays and series for both BBC radio and the stage including ‘Dancing Girls of Lahore’ and Tamasha’s ‘Balti Kings’. Buchar was born and brought up in East Africa and has lived in England for over 20 years. |

Series notes | The Tamasha Theatre Company was jointly founded in 1989 by Sudha Buchar and Kristine Landon-Smith. Sudha Buchar was born and brought up in East Africa and has lived in England for over 20 years. She has acted in plays, television serials and radio and has written for BBC radio as well as co-written most of Tamasha's productions. Kristine Landon-Smith was born in England to an Indian mother and an Australian father. She was brought up in Australia and returned to England in 1978 where she studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Landon-Smith has acted and directed for theatre companies all over Britain and has written several of Tamasha's independent productions. |
